Privacy Policy

Who we are

WanderMap is developed by Shankar Dutt, trading as Dutt Labs, in Australia ("we", "our" or "us"). This policy explains what information the WanderMap app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch handles and how.

Information the app handles

• Travel data you enter: the countries, states, provinces and cities you mark as visited, visit dates, trips, wishlist items, journal entries, notes and photos you add. This data is stored on your device only.
• Purchase status: your membership is handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details.
• Local usage counters: the app keeps a few simple counters on your device, for example how many times it has been opened or when you last exported a backup, so it can time prompts such as a review request. These counters never leave your device.

Photos and location metadata

Access to your photo library is optional and only requested when you use a feature that needs it.

• Adding photos and importing trips: when you add photos to a country or use photo import, WanderMap reads the selected photos and their location metadata to suggest the countries you have visited. This happens entirely on your device, and photos and their locations are never uploaded.
• Saving images: write access is used only to save the map images and wallpapers you choose to export.

WanderMap does not use GPS or track your location.

How your data is stored

• On your device: all travel data is stored locally using Apple's secure on device storage, protected by your device's encryption.
• In your device backups: like other app data, it is included in your regular device backups if you have them turned on. Those backups are managed by Apple under your Apple ID.
• Backup files you export: Settings › Data › Export Data creates a JSON file that you control. It goes only where you choose to save or share it.
• No servers: we do not operate servers that receive or store your personal data.

Third party services

• Apple App Store and StoreKit process purchases and subscriptions, under Apple's Privacy Policy.

We do not use third party analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking services.

Data sharing

We do not sell, trade or share your personal information. Your travel data stays with you.

Your choices and rights

• Access: everything the app stores is visible inside the app.
• Export: export a copy of your data at any time from Settings › Data › Export Data.
• Delete: remove everything with Reset All Data in Settings, or by deleting the app.
• Photos: change or remove photo access at any time in the Settings app under Privacy & Security › Photos.

Because we do not hold your data, these controls are in your hands on your device. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California or another region with privacy laws, you keep all the rights those laws give you, including access, correction, deletion and portability, and you can contact us with any request. We do not sell personal information.

Children

WanderMap does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Any data entered stays on the device.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
